20/08/2017Nick SimmondsGood news for a change from Shawlands. The Boyd Roderick has opened in the former Burrel/1901/Stoat & Ferret. Extensively refurbished, it is very much a cafe bar with coffee & cake on offer alongside two Skye ales (Gold and Red) and a guest ale. Prices are £3.75 a pint which is high for the area for real ale but not compared with some of the craft beer places on the Southside. The staff are new to real ale but keen to learn (the Gold was hazy but tasted fine - the barrel had been moved; the Red was very good). It is dog and child friendly and has a separate restaurant. I've drunk on this site for 25 years and this has the best feel of the place for a long time - to be encouraged.
